Knows every pet by heart
Apply gentle pressure with a clean cloth or gauze to stop bleeding. Hold for at least 5 minutes without lifting.
Clean the wound gently with warm water. Avoid hydrogen peroxide or alcohol because they slow healing.
If the wound is deep or gaping, do not try to close it yourself. Cover it loosely with a clean bandage.
Prevent licking by using an e-collar if available so the wound stays protected.
Watch for infection such as increasing redness, swelling, warmth, discharge, or unusual tiredness.
Animal bites are high risk for infection. Even a small bite can hide serious damage, so see a vet within 24 hours for any bite wound.
