Knows every pet by heart
Move your pet to a cool, shaded area immediately. Get them out of direct sun and heat.
Apply cool water to the body, focusing on the neck, armpits, and groin. Do not use ice because it slows cooling.
Place cool wet towels on the body and replace them often. Fan the air around your pet.
Offer small sips of cool water but do not force drinking. Too much too fast can cause vomiting.
Go to a vet as soon as possible even if your pet seems better. Internal organ damage can happen without obvious signs.
Flat-faced breeds and older pets are at higher risk. If your pet collapses, has bright red gums, or becomes unresponsive, treat it as a critical emergency.
